Concordia’s Majauskas, Ojanen, and Piludu Named to ITA’s All-America Teams

Skillman, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced their 2014 NCAA Division II All-America Singles and Doubles Teams. Concordia junior Benas Majauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania), junior Juuso Ojanen (Varkaus, Finland), and senior Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) were named to the teams after an impressive 2014 campaign.

Ojanen finished the year as the 4th-ranked singles player in NCAA Division II after compiling a 15-4 overall singles record and an 11-6 doubles record. He primarily played in the No. 1 singles position and the No. 2 doubles position and is named an ITA All-America on the singles team for the first time in his career. He claimed a 5th place finish in singles at 2013 USTA/ITA National Small College Championships this past fall, a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First Team All-Conference selection, and a CACC All-Tournament Team selection.

Majauskas finished the year with an 18-2 singles record and a 17-6 doubles record. He primarily played in the No. 3 singles position and the No. 1 doubles position and is named an ITA All-America on the doubles team for the first time in his career. This season he claimed two CACC Player of the Week selections, earned the CACC's Top XIV Award, was named a CACC First Team All-Conference selection, and named the CACC Championship Tournament MVP as well as earning a spot on the CACC All-Tournament Team. He alongside Piludu captured the 2013 USTA/ITA National Small College Division II Doubles Championship this past fall and finished the season as the 5th-ranked doubles duo in Division II.

Piludu finished the year with a 14-3 singles record and a 17-6 doubles record. He primarily played in the No. 2 singles position and the No. 1 doubles position and is named an ITA All-America on the singles and doubles teams for the second time in his career. During the season he also earn two CACC Player of the Week selections, was named the CACC Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, was named a CACC First Team All-Conference selection, a CACC All-Tournament Team selection, and the ITA East Region Men's Senior Player of the Year. He ended the season and his collegiate career as the 7th-ranked singles player in Division II.
