No. 6 Concordia Men's Tennis Concludes CACC Schedule with 9-0 Win over Philadelphia

Philadelphia, Pa. – The sixth-ranked Concordia Clippers men's tennis team concluded their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season schedule on Friday afternoon as they took on Philadelphia University. Concordia would take a 9-0 victory over the Rams as the Clippers finished the season with a perfect 6-0 record in conference matches to claim the CACC Regular Season Championship.

The match began with doubles action as Philadelphia only had four players and would have to forfeit the No. 3 doubles match. The No. 1 duo of senior Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) and junior Benas Majauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania) would take an 8-3 win over Chris Casamassima and Long Vo for Concordia while senior Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and sophomore Rafael Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was victorious over Matthew Germani and Juan David Velosa in the No. 2 match, 8-2.

In singles action the Clippers won the No. 5 and No. 6 matches by forfeit to hold a 5-0 advantage. Junior Juuso Ojanen (Varkaus, Finland) would take a 6-4, 6-2 win against Casamassima in the No. 1 match and then sophomore Ofir Ginat (Raa'nana, Israel) secured a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 match against Vo. Concordia would conclude the singles matches with two more wins as freshman Pulat Babadjanov (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) defeated Velosa in the No. 3 match 6-2, 6-2 and then Ferreira shut out Germani 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 match.

With the match victory for the Clippers, Concordia captured their fifth straight CACC Regular Season Championship. The Clippers will now be the No. 1 seed in the CACC Championships which are set to kick off on Saturday, April 26th.

Concordia (16-3, 6-0 CACC) will close out their regular season schedule on Monday, April 21st with a non-conference match against ASA College in Queens, N.Y.
