No. 6 Clippers Men's Tennis Defeats CACC Foe Chestnut Hill, 9-0

Bronxville, N.Y. – The sixth-ranked Concordia Clippers men's tennis team battled Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Chestnut Hill College at the Meyers Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon. Concordia would sweep the Griffins, 9-0, to remain perfect in CACC play.

The No. 1 duo of junior Benas Majauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania) and senior Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) began the match with an 8-1 victory for the Clippers over Yoann Pham and Steven Say in doubles action as the No. 3 duo of senior Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and sophomore Rafael Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) also claimed an 8-1 win against Chestnut Hill's Anthony Moore and Kevin Taylor. Concordia would complete the sweep of doubles play as junior's Juuso Ojanen (Varkaus, Finland) and Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) defeated Mariano Porter and Pedro Oranges 8-4 in the No. 2 match.

In singles play sophomore Ofir Ginat (Raa'nana, Israel) took a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 4 match against Moore while Piludu secured a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Porter in the No. 1 match to clinch the overall victory for the Clippers. Ojanen's 6-0, 6-2 win in the No. 2 match against Say would follow shortly thereafter to keep the shutout intact for Concordia.

Majauskas would claim a 6-0, 6-3 over Michael Humes in the No. 3 match and then Frey concluded the match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Taylor in the No. 6 singles matchup.

With the win head coach Neil Tarangioli now has 499 career victories as a head coach of the men's program. He will look to reach the coveted 500-win milestone later this week.

The Clippers (9-2, 3-0 CACC) will be back on the road for three straight matches in Florida. Concordia will take on the #1-ranked team in the nation, West Florida, on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. A full recap and results will be made available at the conclusion of the match on ConcordiaClippers.com.
