No. 6 Men's Tennis Rolls to a 9-0 Victory over CACC Opponent Bloomfield

Bronxville, N.Y. – The sixth-ranked Concordia College men's tennis team battled the Bloomfield College Deacons on Saturday afternoon in the Meyers Tennis Center for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. The Clippers would only drop one game in the entire match as Concordia would roll to a 9-0 win over Bloomfield.

The match was originally scheduled to be played at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield, N.J. but the venue was changed because of unplayable conditions.

All three doubles matches would be claimed 6-0 by the Clippers. The No. 1 duo of junior Benas Majauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania) and senior Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) would defeat Thulani Hove and Ceran Messam while the No. 2 duo of junior's Juuso Ojanen (Varkaus, Finland) and Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) won against Peter Beckford and Adam Carter. The No. 3 duo of senior Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and sophomore Rafael Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) would complete the sweep with a victory over Morgan Lebeurre and Shimarhi Shuler as Concordia held a 3-0 match lead after doubles play.

In singles action, five of the six matches would go in favor of the Clippers 6-0. The only game that Bloomfield would take occurred in the No. 3 singles match as Shuler grabbed a lone game but in the end Majaskas secured a 6-1 win.

With the win head coach Neil Tarangioli now has 497 career victories as a head coach of the men's program.

Concordia (7-1, 2-0 CACC) will next travel to Georgia to take on Auburn Montgomery on Thursday, March 22nd. The match will be the first of three consecutive matches down South as the Clippers will also take on #2 Armstrong and #32 Francis Marion.
