No. 10 Concordia Concludes Regular Season with 9-0 Win over NYIT

Bronxville, N.Y. – The 10th-ranked Concordia men's tennis team closed out their regular season schedule on Tuesday afternoon as the Clippers battled the NYIT Bears at the Meyers Tennis Center. Concordia would roll to a 9-0 victory as the Clippers captured their 18th win of the season.

The match would begins with singles competition as Concordia looked to make a statement from the get-go. Senior Andrey Boldarev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) would earn a 6-1, 6-1 win in his No. 1 match over Tomas Lieb and then junior Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) took a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Mircea Dimofte in the No. 2 match.

Sophomore Benas Majauskas' (Vilnius, Lithuania) 6-1, 6-2 win in his No. 3 match against Jamie Salvador gave the Clippers a 3-0 lead and then sophomore Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) took another victory for Concordia in his No. 4 match 6-3, 6-0 against Niko Jubera.

Sophomore Juuso Ojanen (Varkaus, Finland) would easily win in his No. 5 match over Julian Marcon 6-1, 6-0 and then senior Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) would shut out Eduardo Maurtua 6-0, 6-0 as the Clippers took a 6-0 match lead going into doubles play.

Majauskas and Olfans would knock off the duo of Pedro Peixoto and Jubera in the No. 2 doubles match, 8-0. Boldarev and Piludu earned an 8-3 win over Lieb and Marcon in the No. 1 match while sophomore Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and Ojanen also secured an 8-3 victory over Salvador and Maurtua in the No. 3 match to give Concordia the 9-0 shutout win.

The Clippers (18-2, 6-0 CACC) will next battle the winner of the Queens College (N.Y.) and University of the District of Columbia match in the preliminary round of the NCAA Championship tournament. The match will take place in Flushing, N.Y. on Tuesday, April 30th with the time still to be announced.
