No. 10 Clippers Capture Fourth Straight CACC Championship after 5-0 Victory over Chestnut Hill

Philadelphia, Pa. – The 10th-ranked Concordia Clippers men's tennis team have won their fourth straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship on Sunday afternoon after a 5-0 victory over Chestnut Hill College. The Clippers came into the tournament as the No. 1 seed while the Griffins, who also served as the hosts, were the No. 2 seed. The victory for Concordia secures the CACC automatic bid to the NCAA championship tournament which is set to kick off in just over a week.

The Clippers would begin the afternoon by taking all three of the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles play. The duo of senior's David Tisserand (Lyon, France) and Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) would earn an 8-1 win over Michael Humes and Manuel Ceniceros in the No. 3 match while sophomore's Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) and Benas Majauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania) topped Kevin Taylor and Anthony Moore 8-1 at the No. 2 match.

Senior Andrey Boldarev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and junior Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) would have to battle in their No. 1 match against Yoann Pham and Steven Say. The Concordia duo would earn an 8-4 win to give the Clippers a sweep of doubles play and were now two match victories away from the CACC Championship title.

In singles play Boldarev would defeat Humes 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 match and then Piludu secured a shutout victory over Pham in the No. 2 match 6-0, 6-0 as Concordia captured their fourth straight CACC Championship. The remaining matches were in progress at the time of Piludu's win and went unfinished.

At the conclusion of the match Boldarev, Majauskas, Lindell, and Piludu were named to the CACC All-Tournament team while Piludu was named the tournament's MVP for the second straight year.

The Clippers (17-2, 6-0 CACC) will host NYIT for their final tuneup prior to the NCAA championship tournament. Concordia will take to the court of the Meyers Tennis Center at 3pm on Tuesday, April 23rd and then at 8:30pm go to NCAA.com for the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Selection Show to see who the Clippers will face in the opening round of the tournament.
