No. 10 Clippers Shut Out Philadelphia in CACC Match, 9-0

Philadelphia, Pa. – The No. 10 Clippers men's tennis team visited Philadelphia University for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match on Tuesday afternoon. Concordia easily took care of the Rams with a 9-0 victory as the Clippers were playing in their first of three games in as many days.

Senior Andrey Boldarev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) and junior Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) began the match with an 8-0 win for Concordia in the #1 doubles match over Kyle Burke and Chris Casamassima. Sophomore's Benas Majauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania) and Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) followed with an 8-1 victory over Dylan Bhaerman and Ayman Barakat in the #2 match. The Clippers would sweep doubles play as the #3 match went in favor of sophomores Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and Juuso Ojanen (Varkaus, Finland) with their 8-3 win over Nail Rachidi and Long Vo.

Majauskas and senior Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) both captured 6-0, 6-0 shutout victories in their respective #3 and #4 singles matches. Olfans earned a 6-1, 6-0 win in his #2 match while Frey secured a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the #6 match to give Concordia a 7-0 overall lead.

Ojanen's 6-2, 6-0 win in the #5 match got the Clippers one step closer to a shutout victory. Boldarev would complete the shutout in his #1 match after his 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-4) win to give Concordia their 10th victory of the season. The Clippers have now won double-digit matches for the 16th straight season dating back to the 1997-98 campaign.

Concordia (10-2, 3-0 CACC) will be back on the court again tomorrow for a conference match against rival Chestnut Hill. The Clippers will begin the match at 3:30pm at the Meyers Tennis Center.
