No. 7 Clippers Advance to Round of 16 with 5-0 Victory over Merrimack

North Andover, MA – The seventh-ranked Concordia College Clippers men's tennis team won their first-round match in the NCAA Division II Championship on Monday morning. The 5-0 shutout victory came against Merrimack College at the North Andover High School.

The match began with the Clippers taking a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) and Geza Bazula (Budapest, Hungary) took an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles while Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) captured an 8-4 victory in the No. 1 doubles match. Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) and David Tisserand (Lyon, France) concluded doubles play with an 8-4 win as well in the No. 3 match. Piludu and Lindell captured victories in singles with 6-0, 6-2 wins as Concordia earned the 5-0 shutout.

With the victory the Clippers (18-7, 6-0 CACC) will move on to the Round of 16 in Louisville, KY. The match will take place on May 16th as Concordia will take on Grand Canyon University at 5pm.
