#7 Clippers Top Wingate, 6-3

Florence, SC – The seventh-ranked Concordia College Clippers men's tennis team continued their three-day trip in South Carolina with a matchup against Wingate University on Friday. After trailing 2-1 following doubles play the Clippers rallied for a 6-3 victory, their 14th of the season.

In doubles competition, Concordia's Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) fell in their #1 doubles match 8-2 to begin the afternoon. Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) and Geza Bazula (Budapest, Hungary) captured the lone doubles win with an 8-3 victory in the #2 match while David Tisserand (Lyon, France) and Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) dropped an 8-6 decision as Wingate took a 2-1 overall lead.

Frey recorded the first singles victory 6-1, 6-1 at #6 singles as Mark Mozer (Brest, Belarus) followed with a 7-5, 6-2 win at #5 singles to give the Clippers a 3-2 lead. Olfans had no trouble capturing his #4 single win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory as Concordia looked to run away with the match.

Tisserand's 7-5, 6-0 win at #3 singles clinched the overall win for the Clippers as two matches remained. Piludu, the twentieth-ranked singles player, captured a 6-1, 6-4 victory at #1 singles while Bazula dropped a 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-4) decision at #2 singles to conclude the match.

The Clippers (14-7, 6-0 CACC) will next face the tenth-ranked Francis Marion University Patriots on Saturday afternoon. The match, Concordia's final regular season match, will take place at 3pm.
