#4 Clippers Win 7-2 Over Visiting District of Columbia

Bronxville, NY – The fourth-ranked Concordia College Clippers men's tennis team battled the University of the District of Columbia in a non-conference match on Friday afternoon. Concordia continued their dominance in the East Region with a solid 7-2 victory at the Meyers Tennis Center.

The Clippers' Geza Bazula (Budapest, Hungary) and Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) captured an 8-4 victory at #1 doubles as did the #2 doubles team of Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) and David Tisserand (Lyon, France). In the final doubles match, Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) captured an 8-3 win as Concordia went into singles play with a 3-0 overall lead.

Piludu took a 6-1, 6-1 win at #1 singles while Tisserand finished his #2 singles match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Mark Mozer (Brest, Belarus), playing at #3 singles, would work for his match victory as he edged out a win in his first set 6-4 but then went on to dominate the second set 6-0. Olfans took care of his match at #4 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win for the Clippers' seventh overall victory of the competition.

Frey went into a tiebreaker sent with his opponent after taking set one 6-4 and dropping set two 6-2. He would battle down to the wire but in the end fell 9-7 as the Firebirds won their first singles match of the day. Jason Quintana (Holtsville, NY) rounded out the field for Concordia with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat at #6 singles.

Concordia (7-4, 2-0 CACC) will get back to their (CACC) schedule tomorrow afternoon as they travel to face Bloomfield College. The Clippers will take to the court at 12pm in Bloomfield, NJ.
