#4 Concordia Cruises to 9-0 Victory over Chestnut Hill

Philadelphia, PA – The fourth-ranked Concordia College Clippers men's tennis team took on Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday afternoon. The Clippers dominated the match to win 9-0, remaining perfect in CACC play.

Concordia had no problem in their doubles matches as they took an early 3-0 lead and only allowed the Griffins to win two games during doubles play. Geza Bazula (Budapest, Hungary) and Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) captured an 8-1 victory at #1 doubles as did the #2 doubles team of Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) and David Tisserand (Lyon, France). The #3 doubles team of Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) shutout their opponents in their 8-0 win.

In singles competition, Olfans would finish his match first at #4 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Piludu and Mark Mozer (Brest, Belarus) finished shortly thereafter with their wins at #1 singles and #3 singles 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-0, respectively. 

Tisserand would be the fourth to finish in his #2 singles match with a solid 6-0, 6-2 win. Frey would follow in the #5 singles match with a 6-0, 6-2 victory of his own.

Jason Quintana (Holtsville, NY) played his first collegiate match at #6 singles. The freshman showed he will be a valuable member of the team later in the season with a 6-2, 6-2 victory as the Clippers shutout Chestnut Hill for the fourth time in five matches.

Concordia (6-4, 2-0 CACC) will next host the University of the District of Columbia on Friday for a non-conference match. The action is set to begin at 1pm in the Meyers Tennis Center on the campus of Concordia College.
