CONCORDIA COLLEGE MEN'S TENNIS RANKED 3RD IN THE NATION, WOMEN RANKED 22ND

The Clippers Men's Tennis team made a dramatic move up in the national rankings this week in the NCAA Division II/ITA from 8th to 3rd.  This marks the highest ranking ever for Clipper Men's Tennis.  The team was ranked 10th at the start of the season and then moved up to 8th after their outstanding 4-0 performance during their Spring trip to Florida.  During that performance they defeated then #1-ranked Barry University.

Since that perfect start, the Clippers have taken on other nationally ranked teams, including #1 ranked NAIA team Fresno Pacific and Abilene Christian and Hawaii Pacific in Las Vegas.  During the three day stint in Las Vegas the Clippers defeated Hawaii Pacific on their last day.

“It is really nice to be ranked among the elite teams in the country and to be considered in the same air as Armstrong Atlantic, Valdosta State and others.  We have tremendous respect for these programs and know that we still have much work to do going forward in order to achieve our goals.", said Assistant Coach Daniel Rockhill.

“The margin between successful and failure is so slim that we have to pay attention to all the details to get our goals accomplished.  We basically have to out work our opponents physically, mentally and emotionally,” states Head Coach Neil Tarangioli.

Besides their excellent record against ranked opponents, the Clippers men’s team has opened CACC conference play taking their first four CACC matches each with 9-0 scores.

The Concordia Clippers Women's Tennis Team moved up this week in the Division II ITA National Rankings from 25th to 22nd.   The Clippers advanced as they began their Spring season in preparation for the upcoming NCAA Tournament, which starts on May 1st.  The Clippers maintain their #1 spot in the East Region Rankings.

Senior Ola Roberts is now ranked 48th in the Country in Singles.  She is also currently ranked 3rd in the East Region according to the ITA, and holds a 10-0 record in her singles matches.

Roberts is also ranked nationally in doubles with partner Yuliya Plevako.  The doubles tandem have an 8-0 record so far this season and are ranked 8th in the country and 1st in the East Region.  Yuliya Plevako is also ranked 6th in the East Region in singles with a 11-0 record.
