Clippers ranked 10th in ITA National Rankings

The Clippers Men's Tennis team, who finished fourth overall in the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Tournament, were recently ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Clippers topped the East Region Ranks beating out regional rival Queens College NY (2nd).  With the top honors the Clippers also are above three of their CACC foes including Philadelphia University (4th), University of the Sciences (7th), and Chestnut Hill College (8th).  Along with the regional ranking the Clippers team are ranked 10th among Division II schools in the country. 

The Clippers not only hold rankings as a team but also individually in singles and in doubles.  The Clippers host seven players on the singles regional rankings along with two of them on the national scale and four doubles teams with two of the pairs ranked nationally.

Topping the East Region Men's Singles ranks is Junior Andrey Boldarev.  Boldarev finished the 2010 Men's season with a 16-4 singles record.  To begin the 2010-2011 season Boldarev captured his second straight ITA East Regional Singles Tournament Championship to move on to the National Tournament where he finished 3rd.  Boldarev is not only ranked regionally but is the top singles player in the region as he is ranked 14th on the ITA National List. 

Slotted right behind Boldarev is Daniele Piludu, a freshman from Cagliari, Italy.  Piludu made a statement on the court right from the start as he finished second in the ITA East Regional Tournament, falling to Boldarev 5-7;2-6 in the Championship match.  Piludu also is making a statement on the national front as he is ranked 39th in the country. 

Boldarev and Piludu not only compete for the singles but pair up for the doubles as well.  The pair are ranked #1 in the East Region after their ITA East Regional Doubles Tournament Win.  The pair headed down the ITA National Doubles Tournament and finished in 4th place.  With the 4th place finish the Clipper pair of Boldarev and Piludu hit the national doubles ranks in 7th.

We next find Felix Missal sitting in the 4th ranked spot in the East Region.  Missal finished his 2010 season with a 15-6 dual match record.  He then started his 2010-2011 run with a shot at the ITA East Regional Tournament.  Missal made it all the way to the semi-finals before falling to teammate Piludu.  Missal is paired up with Ricardo Frey on the doubles court and together they are regionally ranked 9th.

Sitting right behind Missal on the regional ranks in singles is David Tisserand.  Tisserand made a move in the ITA East Regionals before falling in three sets to teammate Daniele Piludu in the quarterfinals. 

Geza Bazula falls in at #6 on the East Regional ITA Rankings.  Bazula, a junior from Budapest, Hungary, kicked off his Clipper season with a quarterfinal appearance at the ITA East Regional Tournament. 

Bazula's doubles partner, Tamas Dobrotka falls in at #7 on the singles ranks.  Dobrotka finished out his 2010 season with a 22-2 dual match singles record.  To start off the 2010-2011 season, Dobrotka made a quarterfinal appearance at the ITA East Regional Tournament.

Together, Bazula and Dobrotka finished in second place at the ITA East Regional Doubles tournament falling to teammates Boldarev and Piludu in the Championship match.  The pair of Bazula and Dobrotka hit the ranks at #2 in the East Region for doubles as well as #26 in the country among Division II doubles pairs.

Lindell pairs up with David Tisserand on the doubles court as the pair are ranked 4th in the East Region.  Tisserand and Lindell made it all the way to the semi-finals of the ITA East Regional Doubles Tournament before falling to teammates and event champions Boldarev and Piludu.
