Clippers Advance With Ease to Round of 16

The Clippers opened their NCAA Tournament up in the second round as they received a bye for the first round.  The Clippers faced off against CACC foe, the Philadelphia University Rams. 

Geza Bazula and Tamas Dobrotka, hit at the number one doubles flight and were on serve through 4-4 of their match.  Two service breaks and two holds later, Bazula and Dobrotka came away with the 8-4 win.

Andrey Boldarev and Ricardo Frey, at the number two spot, split the first couple of games as they too were on serve.  As the Clipper pair were up 4-3 they continued to play tough and held off their opponents to collect an 8-3 win.

Andreas Lindell and David Tisserand, rounding out the doubles line-up for the Clippers, also took the 4-3 lead in their match.  With two more service breaks and couple of their own service game holds the Clipper pair notched the third point in the team match with an 8-3 win.

As the Clippers were up 3-0 after the doubles, the singles were ready to go on the court. 

Andreas Lindell was off the courts first as he hit at the number five singles position.  Lindell went perfect over his opponent capturing a 6-0;6-0 victory.  Lindell's win put the Clippers one win away from advancing. 

Tamas Dobrotka was next to finish at the number four singled flight.  Dobrotka let two games slip past him in the first set before finishing off the set with a 6-2 win.  Dobrotka then split the first four games before breaking his opponents serve twice for a repeat set of 6-2. 

Andrey Boldarev, at the number one singles spot, took the first set 6-3.  Boldarev was up a break at 3-0 before the match was called. 

Geza Bazula was just two games out from finishing at the number two singles flight.  Bazula let just one game pass him by in the first set before quickly going on to a 6-1 set win.  The Clipper then was on serve through 3-2 before taking a 4-2 lead before play was stopped.

David Tisserand, at the number three singles position, took the first set easily 6-1 and was on serve at 2-1 in the second set as the Clippers collected their fifth point.

Rounding out the lineup was Ricardo Frey who let just two games slip past in the first set before finishing his opponent off in the set with a 6-2 win.  Frey was two games away from a second set victory as he was up a break with a 4-2 score. 

The Clippers return to the Round of 16 and will face off against Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday, May 11th.  The Round of 16 through the Championship will be at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida starting May 11th.
