Clippers edge out Knight 5-4

The Clippers headed to Queens College earlier this afternoon.  The Clippers ranked #1 in the East Region edged out the #2 East Regional Knights 5-4. 

Tamas Dobrotka and Geza Bazula, at the number one doubles flight were on serve through 5-5.  The Clipper pair then broke open the game as they took the next three games for the 8-5 win.

Andrey Boldarev and Felix Missal teamed up once more and were on serve as well.  With the match tied at 4-4, Boldarev and Missal was then able to break their opponents twice while holding their serves for the 8-4 win.

Andreas Lindell and David Tisserand, at the number three doubles flight, let by just three games in their doubles match before breaking their opponent.  Lindell and Tisserand racked up five games in a row after holding serve for the 8-3 win.

With the Clippers up 3-0 the singles matches started play. 

First done for the Clippers was Tamas Dobrotka at the number four singles flight.  A late service break for Dobrotka gave him the edge in the first set for the win 6-4.  Dobrotka got a late break in the second set to take the second set with a 6-3 victory.

Andreas Lindell, at the number five singles position, was on form during his match as he was able to get two breaks of serve in the first set for a 6-2 victory.  Lindell followed the first set up with repeating his performance in the second set for another 6-2 win and the Clippers fifth team point giving them the win.

Andrey Boldarev, at the number one singles spot, struggled on court through both sets.  Boldarev was broken once in the first set and then three times in the second as he fell 4-6; 0-6.

Geza Bazula started off well holding court in the first set for a 6-0 first set win.  Bazula then was broken in the second and fell 6-3 to force a third set tie breaker.  Bazula struggled after getting two points in the third and fell 2-10.

David Tisserand was on serve at the number three singles spot through 5-5 before unfortunately getting broken.  Tisserand then struggled in the second set after being broken and fell in the match 5-7; 1-6.

Felix Missal was pushed to 5-5 in the first set before being broken.  Missal then was broken late in the second before falling in the match 5-7; 3-6.

The Clippers will host Chestnut Hill College tomorrow in the CACC Semifinals at 3:00pm.
