Clippers grab 7-2 win in Las Vegas over Sea Warriors

The Clippers finished off their trip to Las Vegas, Nevada as they faced off against the #25 Hawaii Pacific Sea Warriors.  The Clippers were able to step up and grab a 7-2 win over the Sea Warriors. 

The Clippers were able to start the match off as they swept the doubles match with little trouble.  Andrey Boldarev and Daniele Piludu were off and running at the number one singles position.  With a couple of breaks of the Sea Warriors, the Clippers were able to hold their own service games.  Boldarev and Piludu notched an 8-3 win to grab a point for the Clippers. 

Tamas Dobrotka and Geza Bazula were matched evenly through 4-4 in the 2nd doubles flight.  Dobrotka and Bazula then grabbed a couple of breaks and held their opponents off for an 8-4 win and the Clippers second point. 

David Tisserand and Andreas Lindell finished off the Clippers doubles line-up hitting at the 3rd doubles flight.  Tisserand and Lindell had a little trouble as their opponents gain a game everytime the Clippers pair grabbed one.  The Clippers went up by a game before they grabbed a break and then finished the match on their serve to sweep the Sea Warriors in doubles with an 8-5 win.

As the Clippers held a 3-0 lead the singles hit the court next.  Three Clippers found little to no trouble on court as they were succesful in straight sets. 

Daniele Piludu, hitting in the #2 singles position, let just one game slip by his hands in his entire match.  Piludu stepped up in the first set showing what the Clippers could do as he came away with a 6-0 first set win.  Piludu let the first game of the second set slip by and that was also the last one to go by.  Piludu took the next six games and came away with another Clipper point with the 6-1 second set victory.

David Tisserand, at the number three spot, came away with a straight set sweep as well.  With hardly any trouble in the first set Tisserand was victorious with a 6-0 first set.  Tisserand followed his first set up with the same in the second to collect a 6-0 second set win for the Clippers fifth point. 

Andreas Lindell, at the number six position, was back in fine form as he went straight sets over his Sea Warrior opponent.  Lindell collected another point for the Clippers as he was victorious with scores of 6-0; 6-0.

Tamas Dobrotka grabbed the seventh point for the Clippers as he went through three sets.  Dobrotka was even up at 6-6 in the first set and headed to a tiebreaker.  Dobrotka was successful in the tiebreaker to take the first set.  The second set for Dobrotka was also headed to a tiebreaker in which unfortunately, Dobrotka fell to force a third set tiebreaker.  After sixteen points the third set tiebreaker was tie at 8-8.  Dobrotka grabbed the last two points and took the win 7-6; 6-7, 10-8. 

Andrey Boldarev, at the number one singles, unfortunately struggled in his match in the first set and fell 2-6.  Boldarev then stepped up and was able to go to 5-5 in the second set.  Boldarev was then broken and fell in the second set 5-7 as the Sea Warriors grabbed a match point.

The Sea Warriors grabbed a second point at the number five singles position.  Felix Missal was pushed to three sets.  Missal was broken twice in the first set and fell 2-6.  Missal then was able to switch the score around in the second set as he was able to break his opponent twice to force a third set with the 6-2 set win.  The third set was all tied up after 4-4.  On the ninth game of the match Missal was unfortunately broken and he fell in the set 4-6. 

The Clippers defeated the Sea Warriors despite the Sea Warriors efforts with a 7-2 score and will head back to New York as they will start their CACC run as they host the Chestnut Hill College Griffins on Tuesday, March 22nd at 3:30pm.
