The Clippers headed off to Las Vegas to face off against three more ranked teams. First up the NAIA #1 Fresno Pacific Sunbirds.
The Clippers started off well as they took two out of three doubles matches. Tamas Dobrotka and Geza Bazula, hitting at the number two flight, went toe-to-toe with their Sunbird opponent. After sixteen games Dobrotka and Bazula and their opponents were tied at eight games a piece. A tiebreaker was played to determine the winner of the match. With 12 points played the Clipper team of Dobrotka and Bazula came away with a 7-5 tiebreaker for the 9-8 match win.
At the number three doubles, Andreas Lindell and David Tisserand followed Dobrotka and Bazula's match. Lindell and Tisserand also went to a tiebreaker after having the match tied 
at 8-8. Lindell and Tisserand however claimed their 9-8 win a few points earlier than their teammates from another court. Lindell and Tisserand won the tie breaker 7-2.
Andrey Boldarev and Daniele Piludu, at the number one doubles spot, unfortunately stuggled against their opponents. Boldarev and Piludu fell 2-8 and the Clippers only held a one point match lead heading into the singles.
After struggling in the doubles Andrey Boldarev and Daniele Piludu stepped their games up to collect two singles wins for the Clippers.
Andrey Boldarev went to work straight away at the number one singles position. in his first set Boldarev was able to break his opponent twice and gain a lead to collect a 6-2 set win. With Boldarev taking the first set, he continued to work hard as he took the second set with a 6-4 score for the Clippers third point.
Daniele Piludu also was able to grab a couple of breaks in the first set for his singles match. Piludu collected a 6-3 first set win and kept his momentum up in the second set. A couple more break points for Piludu and the Clippers gained their fourth point and were just one point from the match with the 6-2 second set win.
David Tisserand tried to keep up his play from the doubles match but fell in the first set 2-6. Tisserand was able to go a little farther in the second set but was unfortunately broken again and fell 4-6 giving the Sunbirds another point.
Tamas Dobrotka, at the number four singles position, also struggled during his singles match. Dobrotka was broken twice in the first set and again in the second set to fall 2-6; 3-6 and the Sunbirds were closing in on the Clippers.
Andreas Lindell, hitting at the number six position fell into struggles of his own on court. Lindell fell 3-6; 4-6 and the Sunbirds tied the match up.
It all came down to the number five singles position where Felix Missal was hitting. The first set was pushed to a tiebreaker and Missal stepped up and took the set 7-6. Missal headed into the second set and was upended as he fell 0-6 and a third set was called for. After eight games in the third set the set was tied 4-4. Missal was then unfortunately broken and fell 4-6 and the Sunbirds defeated the Clippers 5-4.
The Clippers will continue their Las Vegas trip as they play Division II #10 Abilene Christian on Tuesday at 3:30pm EST (12:30pm PST).
