Andrey Boldarev and Daniele Piludu started their ITA Nationals tournament off with a bang. The #3 seeded pair in the tournament took on the pair from Rockhurst in their opening match.
Boldarev and Piludu got their first break point in the fourth service game of their opponent. With the score at 3-3 the Clipper pair earned the break to go up 4-3. Boldarev and Piludu then finished out the set with a 6-3 win. The pair then stepped up their game in the second set as they only let two games go by. With two more breaks of serve the Clippers took the set 6-2 to advance to the semifinals where they will meet the #2 seeded pair from Valdosta State.
In the singles tournament Boldarev also advanced. Seeded #4 for the tournament Boldarev's first opponent was from Bluefield State. Boldarev worked hard in the first set as he and his opponent were on serve through 5-5. Boldarev was then broken and was immediately down a set.
The second set had Boldarev continuing to stay on serve, again through 5-5, but it was Boldarev who came out on top this time. With the match tied at one set a piece the third set would decide it all.
Boldarev came out in the third set and dominated after his opponent won his first service game. Boldarev grabbed four service breaks to take the set 6-1 to advance to the semi-finals. Boldarev will face the #1 seed from Armstrong Atlantic.
