Clippers Men's Soccer Remains Perfect at Home with a 3-0 Victory Over Nyack

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia Clippers men's soccer team proved why home games are important on Tuesday afternoon as Concordia would host Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Nyack College. The Clippers would be victorious at Holtdorf Soccer Field, 3-0, as Concordia remains perfect at home this season.

The Clippers would score their first goal of the game in the 23rd minute as graduate Ovan Oakley (Kingston, Jamaica) converted on the penalty kick, his sixth goal of the year. In the second half, Concordia would add another goal during a corner kick play. Freshman Freddy Nava (Yonkers, N.Y.) took the corner kick which found senior Javier Alvarez Vispo (La Coruna, Spain) for the header and his third goal of the season.

Both Oakley and Alvarez Vispo would provide assists in the last goal of the game for the Clippers as junior Nabeel Qawasmi (Yonkers, N.Y.) netted his third goal of the season. Javier would send a pass down the right sideline and Ovan then took a touch to Qawasmi inside the 18-yard box for a low shot into the left side of the goal to give Concordia the 3-0 lead in the 79th minute.

Sophomore Jaime Gonzalez (Madrid, Spain) made two saves in the shutout win for the Clippers, his second in the last three games. Concordia held a 19-6 shot advantage and also maintained a 6-2 edge in corner kick opportunities.

The Clippers (5-3-0, 4-1-0 CACC) will be on the road for the next two games as Concordia will visit Chestnut Hill College on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff for the CACC game is set for 12 p.m. in Lafayette Hill, Pa.
