Ovan Oakley Scores Four Goals in a 7-0 Victory for Concordia Over CACC Rival Nyack

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore Ovan Oakley (Kingston, Jamaica) found the back of the net four times for the Concordia men's soccer team in a 7-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Nyack College at Holtdorf Soccer Field on Thursday afternoon.

Oakley scored his first goal of the afternoon only 20 seconds into the game which is tied for the 18th fastest goal in NCAA Division II Men's Soccer history. The goal came off a pass from midfield by junior Jesus Alvarez-Riesco (La Coruna, Spain). A minute and thirteen seconds later senior Alessandro Persampieri (Tuckahoe, N.Y.) would add another goal for the Clippers after senior Jonathan Short (Tottenham, Canada) and Oakley connected on quick passes to Persampieri to give Concordia a 2-0 lead.

In the sixth minute Oakley would add his second goal of the afternoon after a turnover by the Warriors led to a 2-on-1 break for the Clippers. Sophomore Javier Alvarez Vispo (La Coruna, Spain) would dribble into the 18-yard box then slide a low pass to Oakley who found the back of the net. During the 21st minute a penalty kick opportunity for Concordia gave them the opportunity to take a 4-0 lead. Oakley would be the one to take the shot who beat the goalie on a quick shot to the corner of the net.

The second half saw three more goals for the Clippers which began with a goal in the 54th minute by Alvarez-Riesco after receiving passes from freshman Matteo Fabbri (South Salem, N.Y.) and junior Mauricio Chaparro (Mamaroneck, N.Y.). The sixth goal for Concordia came in the 75th minute after a long pass by senior Shamil Adamou (Verona, Italy) up the sideline found junior Rasheem Eccleston (Montego Bay, Jamaica) for a rocket of a shot that got by Nyack's keeper.

The final goal of the game was off another penalty kick as Oakley recorded his fourth goal of the game in the 86th minute. Despite the 7-0 victory for the Clippers the team was out-shot 19-10 in the game but seven of their eight shots on goal resulted in a successful goal.

Junior Ruel Gordon (Savanna La Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica) made five saves in the game to record his second straight shutout. Gordon has not allowed a goal in 119:49 minutes, dating back to the first game of the season.

Concordia has not begun a season with three consecutive wins since the 1979 season according to historical records.
