Concordia Wins Third Straight Match after 1-0 Victory over Wilmington (Del.)

Newark, Del. – The Concordia men's soccer team looked for their third straight victory on Saturday afternoon as they took on Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Wilmington (Del.) University. After holding a one goal lead at the half, the Clippers stepped up their defense as the team came away with the win, 1-0.

Junior Ekene Okereke (Beliefield, Germany) would score the game's only goal in the 15th minute. Sophomore Jonathan Short (Tottenham, Canada) would send a long pass to Okereke in the box as he managed to net his team-leading fifth goal of the season.

The Wildcats controlled much of the game taking 12 shots compared to only four by Concordia. Strong defense by the Clippers and five saves by freshman goalkeeper Ruel Gordon (Savanna La Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica) helped Concordia hold on for the win.

The Clippers (5-6-1, 3-4-1 CACC) will be back home in their next match to host Holy Family University. Concordia will take to the field of Holtdorf Soccer Field at 2:30pm on Saturday, October 13th as fans unable to attend can follow the action via Live Stats on ConcordiaClippers.com.
