Clippers Drop CACC Match, 3-1, Against Post

Bronxville, N.Y. – The Clippers men's soccer team returned home to Holtdorf Soccer Field on Wednesday afternoon to host Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. Concordia fought hard the entire match but in the end the Eagles would edge out a 3-1 victory for their fifth win on the season.

Post grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute off a shot from the top of the box. Both defenses would not allow any more goals in the first 45 minutes as the Eagles held a one goal lead at the half.

Two minutes into the second period Post would add their second goal of the match as the Clippers would have to play from a larger deficit. A goal in the 72nd minute for Concordia would give them hope as Jesus Alvarez-Riesco (La Coruna, Spain) took a shot from the top of the box which found the bottom right corner of the net for his second goal of the season.

The Clippers were unable to notch another goal as the Eagles added an insurance goal in the 78th minute to take a 3-1 victory and earn their seventh straight win over Concordia. Goalkeeper Ruel Gordon (Savanna La Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica) recorded five saves for the Clippers as Post held the edge in shots, 23-11.

Concordia (2-6-1, 0-4-1 CACC) will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they will travel to Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Del. The match will kickoff at 3pm at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex.
