Clippers Fall in Non-Conference Play at Queens (N.Y.), 2-0

Flushing, N.Y. – The Clippers men's soccer team took a break from their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule to battle Queens (N.Y.) College on Tuesday afternoon. Two early goals by the Knights would be all the scoring in the game as Concordia suffered a 2-0 loss.

Queens got on the scoreboard in the ninth minute as a corner kick led to a goal. Two minutes later the Knights added their second goal of the match as the Clippers trailed in the shot department by a margin of 11-2 in the first 45 minutes.

A red card in the closing minutes of the first half for Concordia forced the team to play a man down during the remainder of the game. Queens would take 11 more shots in the second period as freshman goalkeeper and CACC Rookie of the Week Ruel Gordon (Savanna La Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica) recorded 13 saves in the game for the Clippers.

Eight shots in the second half for Concordia would be taken but the score would remain 2-0 at the final whistle. The Knights' goalkeeper would record two saves for their second win of the season.

The Clippers (1-3-1, 0-1-1 CACC) will be back in action on Thursday to host Dominican (N.Y.). The match will begin at 3pm as Concordia look to grab their first conference victory of the season.
