Late Goals Lift Clippers to 3-2 Win over Nyack

Nyack, NY –The Concordia College Clippers men's soccer team scored two goals late in the second half to win over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Nyack. The 3-2 win moves Concordia into a tie for fifth place in the CACC standings.

The Warriors netted the first goal of the game in the 29th minute from Felix Horn (Halle, Germany). Less than two minutes later, the Clippers responded with a goal of their own to tie the game at 1-1. Xhovano Dardha (Shkoder, Albania) netted his first goal of the season from about 10 yards away.

Minutes later, Nyack answered right back with the go-ahead goal by Marco Likos (Leipzig, Germany). Likos received a pass from Arturo Garcia (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and tapped the ball into the back of the net from five yards away.

The game would go scoreless for 30 minutes until David Mero (Randolph, NJ) tied the score at 2-2 in the 74th minute. With the momentum on their side, Concordia's Michael Barbetto (New City, NY) scored the game winner in the 81st minute.

Clippers' goalkeeper, Oscar Acosta-Mendez (Bogota, Columbia) recorded four saves in the win. Total shots in the game were even for both sides at 12 a piece while Nyack had a slight edge in corner kicks taken.

Concordia (2-5, 2-2 CACC) will host Bloomfield this Saturday, October 1st for a 3pm match. The game will take place at SUNY Purchase and directions can be found at the Clippers' men's soccer schedule on ConcordiaClippers.com.
