Concordia's Minwoo Park Wins NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional Individual Title; Team Places T-4th Out of 20 Programs

DANIELS, W. Va. – Freshman Minwoo Park (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) earned the 2018 NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional Individual Title on Wednesday for the Concordia Clippers men's golf team as he won the three-day event at The Resort at Glade Springs by six strokes. As a team Concordia placed T-4th out of 20 institutions, missing one of the top-3 qualifying spots into the NCAA Division II National Tournament by one stroke.

The Clippers shot a 301 (+13) to finish with a three-day total of 893 (+29). Roberts Wesleyan won the team title with an 889 (+25) while Franklin Pierce was second with an 890 (+26) and Charleston (W.Va.) earned the final spot in the national tournament with an 892 (+28).

Park tied a tournament-best 68 (-4) in the final round to give him a three-day total of 207 (-9) to claim the title as Ryan Rucinski of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Wilmington (Del.) was the next nearest competitor with a 213 (-3). The individual title at the NCAA Super Regional is the first such title for the men's golf program in their eight year history as a varsity program.

Senior Chartpetch Bangpetch (Chonburi, Thailand) finished with a 77 (+5) to give him a three-day total of 226 (+10) and place T-37th in his final collegiate tournament. Junior Kanoon Bunthanawong (Chonburi, Thailand) carded a 78 (+6) as he placed T-51st with a 230 (+14).

Senior Mark Kilpatrick (Cheshire, England, United Kingdom) shot a 78 (+6) in his final collegiate round as he finished with a 232 (+16) in the tournament to place T-58th. Junior Evan Hong (Houston, Texas) rounded out the scores for Concordia with a 79 (+7) to finish T-71st with a 234 (+18).

Park will now represent the Clippers as an individual in the NCAA Division II National Championship at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals, Fighting Joe Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama beginning on Monday, May 21st.
