Clippers Claim Top-5 Finish at Dowling Shoot Out

Riverhead, N.Y. – The Concordia College Clippers men's golf team played in their first tournament of the season at Dowling's September Shoot Out at the Long Island National Golf Club over the weekend. Concordia finished the tournament in fourth out of 17 teams as Jeffrey Schaller's (Kingston, N.Y.) would lead the Clippers with an impressive performance.

Schaller finished with a 144 (+2) only one stroke off the lead to finish 2nd overall in a field of 88 players. Eutimio Fernandez-Meade (Mexico City, Mexico) shot a 73 on day two to finish with a 153 (11).

Sam Deitte (St. Louis, Mo.) and Kyle Grandilli (Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada) finished only two shots apart in the tournament as Deitte shot a 160 and Grandilli shot a 162. Freshman Steve Plezia (Melville, N.Y.) would round out Concordia's scores with a 174 in his first collegiate tournament.

Concordia will now prepare for their next tournament which will take place this Saturday. The Clippers will travel to Ravena, N.Y. to participate in the Sage Invitational at Sycamore Country Club.
