Schaller Finishes Second After 4-Hole Playoff; Clippers Finish 8th Overall

Riverhead, NY – Jeffrey Schaller (Kingston, NY) finished the second round of the Dowling September Shootout tied for the lead with Dowling's Kurt Brey (Farmingdale, NY). Both players went into a playoff to determine the winner which lasted four holes and favored Brey in the end; Concordia finished the tournament eighth overall.

In the first tournament of the 2011-2012 season for the Clippers, the team finished with very respectable scores in the 18-team, two-day tournament. Concordia finished Day 1 in ninth place, 24 strokes behind leader St. Thomas Aquinas College. Schaller shot an even par 71 placing him 5th in the overall standings.

In Day 2, Schaller matched his first round score of 71 to finish the tournament with a total of 142 and tied with the lead. In the playoff to determine the overall winner, Schaller and Brey matched each other for the first three holes. On the fourth hole of the playoff, Schaller was edged by Brey to finish second overall.

Sam Deitte (St. Louis, MO) finished second for Concordia with two day total of 155 while freshman Eutimio Fernandez-Meade (Mexico City, Mexico) shot a 161 in his first collegiate tournament.

Kyle Grandilli (Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada) and Will Deitte (St. Louis, MO) rounded out the scores for the Clippers with a 164 and 185 respectively as Concordia finished with a 622 to place eighth overall.

Concordia will next participate in Dominican College's 5th Annual "Charger Challenge" at Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, NY on October 9th-10th.
