Herrington Named CACC Men’s Basketball Rookie Of The Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) announced its men's basketball weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, with Concordia College New York freshman guard Dion Herrington (Englewood, N.J.) being tabbed as the league's Rookie of the Week.

Herrington averaged 14.5 points on .450 shooting with 4.5 assists over Concordia's two contests last week. The freshman established a pair of career-highs in the Clippers' 77-73 victory at Mercy College on Tuesday, Nov. 26, tying for the team-high with 17 points on top of a team-best five assists.

For the season, Herrington averages 9.2 points on a .413 clip with 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He has eclipsed double-digit scoring in each of Concordia's last four outings, shooting 40 percent from the field or higher in each game during the stretch.

It is Herrington's first acknowledgment from the conference office, and the Clippers' first Rookie of the Week nod since Stephan Milhaven received the distinction on Feb. 15, 2016.

The Clippers begin CACC play on Tuesday, Dec. 3 with a 7 p.m. contest against Bloomfield College at the Meyer Athletic Center.
