DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. –Freshman guard Dion Herrington (Englewood, N.J.) and freshman forward Dan Porcic (Putnam, Conn.) each scored 17 points on Tuesday evening, with 32 of their 34 combined points coming in second half against Mercy College to help the Concordia College New York men's basketball team overcome a 13-point halftime deficit and earn its first victory of the year behind a 77-73 score.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Herrington's career-high in points came off 5-10 shooting and 7-11 from the free throw line with the freshman also establishing his personal-best in assist with five.
• 12 of Porcic's career-high-matching 17 points came from beyond the arc, with the freshman adding 6-6 shooting from the charity stripe.
• Senior forward Jesse Breeding (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) chipped in 10 points with seven rebounds.
• Junior Alex White Jr. (Middletown, Conn.) scored nine points with seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
• For Mercy, Bryan Griffin scored 26 points with 14 rebounds and three blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• After splitting the opening 10 points of the contest, Mercy scored nine-straight to take a 14-5 lead with 15:25 left in the half.
• Redshirt-junior guard Brandon Fields (Washington, D.C.) ended the run with a pair of free throws, with Mercy answering with a triple before a 9-2 run by Concordia made it a one-possession game at 19-16 with 10:54 remaining in the half.
• The host created a double-digit separation at 32-22, with the two sides exchanging the ensuing 10 points before back-to-back baskets from Mercy extending the gap to 41-27 with 27 seconds left in the half.
• Sophomore forward Devon Sims (Centreville, Va.) connected on a free throw with four seconds remaining, creating a 41-28 halftime score.
• Both sides scored in the opening minute of the second half, with senior forward Anthony Barnes (Bowie, Md.) connecting for Concordia, to make it 43-30 with 19:07 left to play.
• Concordia cut the deficit down to single digits behind a 10-3 run, Holding Mercy without a basket for over five minutes while scoring eight points during the stretch before the host ended the run to make it 48-40 with 12:06 left to play.
• Concordia made it a one-point game behind a 7-0 run, but a pair of free throws and layup from the Mavericks side made it 52-47 with 9:43 left to play.
• Mercy extended the lead up to eight at 65-57 off five-straight points, but eight-straight points from Porcic and a layup from Herrington propelled Concordia to a 67-65 with 2:07 remaining.
• Mercy cut the lead in half off a free throw, with Concordia using a 7-2 stretch to take a 74-68 lead with 33 seconds left.
• The host used a late rally to get within two at 75-73 with nine seconds left to play before a pair of Porcic free throws created the final score.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Clippers converted on 25-68 shots, going 7-28 from three-point territory and 20-30 from the free throw line.
• Mercy finished 25-54 from the field, 8-20 from distance and 15-27 from the free throw line.
• Concordia recorded 10 assists while Mercy had 14.
• Both sides recorded 41 rebounds.
• Concordia committed 10 turnovers, resulting in 16 points for the Mavericks. Mercy had 20 turnovers, leading to 22 points.
• Concordia's bench scored 29 points while the hosts got 23 from its bench.
• Concordia recorded eight steals with three blocks while Mercy stole the ball twice with four blocks.
