Men’s Basketball Bests Georgian Court, 67-56

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore guard Baron Goodridge (Bronx, N.Y.) scored a team-best 17 points on Saturday afternoon, helping the Concordia College New York men's basketball stay undefeated against Georgian Court University at the Meyer Athletic Center in a 67-56 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) triumph.

NOTES
• Concordia improves to 6-11, 3-5 in CACC play.

• Georgian Court drops to 2-15, 1-7 in league action.

• Since the two sides began meeting annually during the 2013-14 season, Concordia leads the series 5-1 and is 3-0 against the opposition on the Clippers' homecourt.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Goodridge shot 6-10 from the field, 5-10 from beyond the arc.

• Sophomore forward Alex White Jr. (Middletown, Conn.) pulled down 10 rebounds with eight points, two blocks and two steals.

• Senior guard Michael Demello (White Plains, N.Y.) chipped in 13 points with a team-best four steals and three assists.

• For Georgian Court, Caleb Bowser scored 17 points with six assists while Kim Speller chipped in 12 points with 15 rebounds.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• White Jr. kicked off the scoring with a triple on the Clippers' opening possession, with a 5-0 response from GCU making it 5-3 with 17:40 remaining in the half.

• A redshirt-senior guard Cedrick McFadden (Washington, D.C.) jumper evened the score at 5-all, with senior guard Jason Cethoute following with a layup off a Demello steal only for a 12-3 stretch for the visitors creating a 17-10 score with 12:22 to go in the half.

• Goodridge ended the run with a triple, sparking a 14-0 Concordia spree with McFadden, White Jr. and sophomore forward Kyle Parris (Old Bridge, N.J.) chipping in to flip the seven-point lead in the Clippers' favor at 24-17 with 7:14 remaining in the half.

• GCU scored the ensuing four points to make it a one-possession contest at 24-21, and kept the separation at 26-23 before a 7-0 run for the hosts off a triple from Goodridge and baskets from freshman forward Devon Sims (Centreville, Va.) and Parris created a double-digit Clippers' lead at the half, 33-23.

• Following a pair of Cethoute free throws to start the second half, the Lions used a 7-0 run to make it 35-30 with 17:34 remaining in the second half.

• Concordia recreated its double-digit advantage at 43-32 off a 7-2 stretch, extending the lead to a game-high 15 points at 54-39 with 6:48 remaining in the contest.

• The Clippers maintained a double-digit lead until a late 6-2 GCU rally made it 63-56 with 1:27 remaining.

• Concordia scored the final four points of the contest to create the final score.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
• The Clippers converted on 21-60 shots, going 6-21 from three-point territory and 19-31 from the free throw line.

• Georgian Court finished 24-61 from the field, 3-19 from distance and 5-8 from the free throw line.

• Concordia recorded 10 assists while Georgian Court had 11.

• Concordia held a 42-41 advantage in rebounds.

• Concordia had 11 turnovers, resulting in 12 points for Georgian Court. GCU had 20 turnovers, leading to 23 Clippers' points.

• Concordia' bench scored 28 points while the visitors got zero from its bench.

• Concordia recorded 10 steals with three blocks while Georgian Court stole the ball six times with two blocks.
