White Jr. Sets Men’s Basketball Single-Game Record In 95-89 Victory Over Wilmington

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore forward Alex White Jr. (Middletown, Conn.) and senior guard Michael Demello (White Plains, N.Y.) both set career-highs on Saturday afternoon, with White Jr. adding a Concordia College New York men's basketball single-game record to propel the Clippers past visiting Wilmington University (Del.) 95-89 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

NOTES
• Concordia improves to 5-10, 2-4 in CACC play.

• Wilmington falls to 6-9, 3-3 in league action.

• White Jr.'s .900 field goal percentage (9-10) marks the highest clip in the program record book with a minimum of eight field goals made.

• The team's .554 field goal percentage in the victory sits fifth in the program record book and the second-best within the Meyer Athletic Center.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• White Jr. finished with 26 points on top of eight rebounds and three blocks.

• Demello tallied 23 points on 7-12 shooting with five rebounds and five assists.

• Redshirt-senior guard Cedrick McFadden (Washington, D.C.) tallied seven assists with two steals.

• Sophomore guard Baron Goodridge (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 16 points.

• Senior forward Stephen Milhaven (Port Washington, N.Y.) chipped in 15 points.

• For Wilmington, Danny Walsh scored 28 points while Jermaine Head added a double-double behind 21 points and 12 assists.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Concordia opened the contest with the initial 15 points, holding the visitors without a basket until a triple with 16:05 remaining in the half made it 15-3.

• Concordia led by as many as 27 in the opening half at 52-27, with the Wildcats ending the half on an 8-4 run to make it 56-35.

• Wilmington used a 27-11 stretch to start the second half to make it a 10-point contest at 67-57, cutting the separation to single-digits at 70-62 with 11:11 remaining in the half.

• The Wildcats continued to claw into Concordia's lead, getting within four at 72-68 before a White Jr. triple and Milhaven layup created a nine-point cushion at 77-68.

• Concordia maintained its nine-point advantage until a late 9-2 Wilmington rally made it a one-possession game at 85-82.

• Back-to-back layups from Goodridge and Milhaven ended the rally, with Concordia scoring eight points in final minute while Wilmington scored seven to create the final score.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
• The Clippers converted on 36-65 shots, going 9-25 from three-point territory and 14-16 from the free throw line.

• Wilmington finished 34-66 from the field, 15-30 from distance and 6-9 from the free throw line.

• Concordia recorded 21 assists while Wilmington boasted 25.

• Concordia held a 38-25 advantage in rebounds.

• Concordia had 11 turnovers, resulting in 17 points for Wilmington. The Wildcats had nine turnovers, leading to 14 Clippers' points.

• Concordia' bench scored 21 points while the visitors got seven from its bench.

• Concordia recorded a six steals with three blocks while Wilmington stole the ball five times with two blocks.
