Clippers Men’s Basketball Drops an 84-72 Decision at Georgian Court in CACC Play

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Concordia College men's basketball team traveled to take on Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Georgian Court University on Wednesday evening. The Clippers were unable to grab their first conference win of the season as the Lions took an 84-72 victory at the GCU Wellness Center.

Georgian Court came out in the first half with a 13-1 lead as Concordia trailed by double digits, 15-5, at the 13:32 mark. The Clippers would cut their deficit in half with 11 minutes remaining in the period and at the 7:05 mark trailed by a basket, 21-19. From here the Lions ended the half on a 18-3 run as Concordia went into the locker room trailing 39-22.

The home team began with back-to-back baskets to start the second half as the Clippers used an 11-2 run to get within 12 at the 15:39 mark, 45-33. Concordia continued to battle and with 11:48 to go cut the deficit to a point at 49-48. Georgian Court would slowly pull away on the scoreboard as the Lions' lead reached double digits at the 5:49 mark, 67-57. The Clippers would make another run to trail by only four, but couldn't get any closer as Georgian Court held on to take the 84-72 win.

Freshman Baron Goodridge (Bronx, N.Y.) led Concordia with a career-high 17 points as he also added five assists and four rebounds. Junior Jayson Cethoute (Queens, N.Y.) added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists while senior Elijah Brown (Maplewood, N.J.) and junior Michael Demello (White Plains, N.Y.) both finished with 11 points.

The Clippers (5-10, 0-7 CACC) will next visit Wilmington (Del.) on Saturday afternoon for a CACC game in Newark, Del. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. as fans unable to attend can follow the action by clicking on the live stats link under the men's basketball schedule page on ConcordiaClippers.com.
