Concordia Men's Basketball Keeps Post-Season Hopes Alive with a 93-80 Win over CACC Powerhouse Bloomfield

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers men's basketball team earned an important victory on Wednesday evening to keep their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament hopes alive. Concordia would defeat CACC powerhouse Bloomfield College, 93-80, as the Clippers have now won three games in a row.

In the first half the Bears began with a 7-0 lead as Bloomfield extended their advantage to 15-4 at the 15:02 mark. Concordia would then score 10 unanswered points to get within a point with 13:12 remaining on the clock, but the Bears would pull ahead again as a 7-2 run allowed Bloomfield to lead 26-18 at the 8:27 mark. The Clippers would fall behind by double digits with under five minutes to go until halftime, but Concordia ended the period on a 13-8 run to cut their deficit to six points at the break, 41-35.

The Clippers came out in the second half with a 22-8 run as the offense allowed Concordia to hold a 57-49 advantage at the 14:56 mark. The Bears would hit back-to-back three-point baskets to close the gap, but nine unanswered points for the Clippers allowed the home team to lead 66-55 with 11:42 remaining in regulation. From here Concordia would hit down shots from the outside as the Clippers quickly extended their lead to 77-64. Concordia would not let up offensively and would go on to win easily, 93-80, as this tied the worst losing margin for Bloomfield in any game this season.

Senior Jalen Heath (Joliet, Ill.) led the Clippers with 23 points, a career-high 19 rebounds, and five assists for his 12th double-double of the season. Sophomore Stephen Milhaven (Port Washington, N.Y.) added 16 points to go along with seven rebounds. Redshirt-senior Jamie Holder (Milford, N.H.) came off the bench to score 14 points as he now has 967 career points.

Junior Justyn Gardner (Queens, N.Y.) would also score double figures off the bench as he scored 13 points while redshirt-sophomore Cedrick McFadden (Washington, D.C.) added 12 points and a game-high eight assists while junior Elijah Brown (Springfield, N.J.) chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Concordia (9-17, 8-9 CACC) will next host Post University for Senior Day on Saturday afternoon in a CACC North Division showdown in the Meyer Athletic Center.
