Clippers Fall to Nyack, 87-50

Nyack, N.Y. – The Concordia College men's basketball team visited Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division foe Nyack College on Tuesday evening at Bowman Gymnasium. The Clippers were unable to come away with a win as the Warriors secured an 87-50 victory.

Concordia began the game with an early 9-2 lead as the Clippers came out shooting the ball well over the first four minutes of play. Concordia would then go almost six minutes without any points as Nyack would score 16 straight points to take a 24-16 lead with 8:53 to play in the half.

Freshman Jalen Heath (Joliet, Ill.) would break the drought with a three-point basket with 8:35 to go in the first half but this would be the last field goal for the Clippers as the Warriors ended the final minutes of the period on a 22-2 run. Concordia would go into the locker room trailing 46-21.

In the second half the Clippers were able to snap their drought with back-to-back baskets in the early going. Nyack would continue to hold onto the lead in the second half as Concordia was unable to overcome their deficit as the Warriors would go on to take an 87-50 victory and sweep the season series against the Clippers.

Junior Tshyrad Oates (Union City, N.J.) led Concordia with 14 points and nine rebounds while senior Norman Pope (Washington, D.C.) added seven points and a team-high three assists. As a team the Clippers shot 37.5% from the field and were out-rebounded 39-34.

Concordia (4-18, 4-11 CACC) is now mathematically eliminated from CACC playoff contention with the loss this evening. The Clippers will next host Holy Family on Saturday afternoon as tip off is set for 3 p.m. in the Meyer Athletic Center.
