Baseball Pitchers Set Career Highs In Doubleheader Setback Against Chestnut Hill

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Junior right-handed pitchers Jacob Bannon (Glendale, N.Y.) and Patrick Rivera (Elmont, N.Y.) both set their career highs in innings pitched in their respective starts on Saturday afternoon, with junior designated hitter/first baseman Joseph Impeduglia (Staten Island, N.Y.) hitting his fifth home run of the season in the opener and sophomore second baseman/left fielder Jake Partridge (Bardonia, N.Y.) tallying three hits in the second outing of the Concordia College New York's 10-2, 10-3 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader setback to visiting Chestnut Hill College.

NOTES
• Concordia falls to 10-23, 5-13 in CACC play.

• Chestnut Hill improves to 16-16, 11-7 in league action.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS (GAME 1)
• Impeduglia went 2-2 with his second home run this week and two walks while being tagged with the loss after throwing two walks with both baserunners scoring.

• Senior shortstop Tyler Epple (Levittown, N.Y.) went 2-4 with one run scored.

• Bannon held Chestnut Hill to one run off four hits in 7.0 innings.

• For Chestnut Hill, Eric Gilham went 3-5 with two RBI while Franklin Ramirez went 2-3 with a home run. Dino Cattai received the victory on the mound after limiting Concordia to one hit over the final 3.0 innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1)
• Chestnut Hill took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second off a two-out home run from Ramirez.

• Reaching base off a one-out double in the bottom of the sixth, Epple rounded the bases on an Impeduglia home run to give Concordia a 2-1 lead.

• Leading off the top of the eighth with back-to-back walks, Ramirez touched home plate off a Luke LeBeau single before a Sam Barletta base hit platted Eric Small and failed pickoff attempted allowed LeBeau to round the bases while a double from Gilham sored Barletta to create a 5-2 score.

• Chestnut Hill loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the ninth, sending Andrew Dietz home on a LeBeau sacrifice fly before four-straight singles scored four runs to extend the separation to 10-2.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE (GAME 1)
• Concordia recorded seven hits while the Griffins had 13.

• The Clippers left six runners on base, Chestnut Hill stranded four.

• Concordia committed three errors.

• Chestnut Hill stole two bases.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS (GAME 2)
• Partridge went 3-4 with one run scored and one RBI.

• Senior third baseman Andrew Medina (Brentwood, N.Y.) went 2-3 with one RBI.

• Rivera tossed 6.0 innings in his first collegiate start with four runs allowed off six hits.

• For Chestnut Hill, Dietz went 3-4 with two runs scored and one RBI while Eric Small went 1-4 with a home run. Jerry Mangan got the win on the mound after allowing two runs with one earned off five hits in 5.0 innings.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2)
• Leading off the bottom of the first with a single, Partridge scored off an Epple sacrifice fly to give Concordia an early 1-0 lead.

• The Griffins used a three-run home run from Small with one out in the top of the second to create a 3-1 score.

• Chestnut Hill loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the fourth off three-straight singles, sending Healey home off a LeBeau groundout to take a 4-1 advantage.

• Reaching base on a hit by pitch to leadoff the bottom of the fourth, Epple touched home plate off a Medina double to make it 4-2.

• Chestnut Hill used seven-consecutive hits with two outs in the top of the seventh to score six runs and hold a 10-2 edge.

• Leading off the bottom of the seventh with a double, senior center fielder Jaylin Martinez (Paramus, N.J.) scored on a Partridge base hit to create the final score.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE (GAME 2)
• Concordia recorded eight hits, the Griffins tallied 13.

• The Clippers left six runners on base, Chestnut Hill stranded four.

• Both sides committed one error.

• Concordia stole one base, Chestnut Hill swiped two.
