BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College New York baseball team begins its 2019 campaign this weekend with a four-game stint in Myrtle Beach, S.C., starting on Friday, Feb. 22 against the New York Institute of Technology before a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 23 against LIU Post and nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University with the weekend finale on Sunday, Feb. 24 against the University of New Haven.

About the Clippers
Concordia begins the new campaign following a 20-26 2018 season, going 16-16 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play and advancing to the opening round of the CACC Championship.

The Clippers hit .272 (404-1488) as a team last season with a .359 slugging percentage off the strength of 65 doubles, 10 triples and 15 home runs while tallying 214 RBI and 183 walks. Sophomore outfielder Jake Partridge (Bardonia, N.Y.) and junior outfielder/pitcher Joseph Impeduglia (Staten Island, N.Y.) return after playing in over 40 games last season with batting averages above .300 at .322 and .321, while junior catcher Peter Lawless (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) adds a .318 batting average in 22 at bats. Impeduglia led the Clippers last season with 32 RBI, 13 doubles and a .494 slugging percentage on top of fifth-most saves in the CACC with four. Partridge's team-high three triples ranked eighth in the conference last year, while senior outfielder Andre Jackson (Massapequa, N.Y.) boasted a team-best five home runs that ranked sixth within the league.

On the mound, Concordia sported a team ERA of 6.51 with 267 strikeouts and 177 walks in 382.2 innings. Senior righty Jack Wall (Levittown, N.Y.) highlights the returning pitchers after logging 63.2 innings over 11 appearances with 10 starts and a 4-6 record. Junior RHP Michael Romano (Yonkers, N.Y.) and senior RHP Raymond Rosado (Brooklyn, N.Y.) both tossed over 40.0 innings last season with 46.2 and 45.0, while junior RHP Jacob Bannon (Glendale, N.Y.) sported a 4.84 ERA in 22.1 innings and junior RHP Connor Stapleton (Staten Island, N.Y.) boasted a team-high 9.72 strikeouts per nine inning average.

About the Bears
Also opening its season in South Carolina, NYIT begins the new campaign after going 13-25-1 in 2018 with a 6-18 mark in East Coast Conference action.

The Bears hit .263 (346-1318) as a team in 2018 with a .361 slugging percentage coming from 70 doubles, nine triples and 14 home runs while tallying 164 RBI and 115 walks. Ben McNeail returns after recording a team-best 50 hits on a .321 batting average with 20 RBI, 12 doubles and eight stolen bases.

On the mound, NYIT held a team ERA of 5.74 with 233 strikeouts and 189 walks in 329.0 innings. Ariel Taveras sported a team-low 1.88 ERA last year in 24.0 innings over 13 appearances with a 1-0 record while Brandon Alberto logged 41.2 innings with a 5-4 record and 3.02 ERA.

About the Pioneers
LIU Post (0-3) travels to Myrtle Beach after being swept in a season-opening weekend series at No. 2 University of Tampa.

The Pioneers are hitting .163 (16-98) as a team with a .184 slugging percentage coming from two doubles while drawing five walks. Jimmy Mendyk leads LIU Post with a .375 batting average while Christopher Wasson has a team-best two RBI, one stolen base and one double, matching Michael Manzione for the team lead.

On the mound, the Pioneers hold a team ERA of 9.00 with 12 strikeouts and nine walks in 24.0 innings. Reigning ECC Pitcher of the Week James Varela logs a team-high 6.1 innings of work, sporting a 4.26 ERA with a team-high eight strikeouts.

About the Penmen
Ranked ninth in the most recent National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Poll, Southern New Hampshire (1-2) treks to S.C. after winning its season opener at California State San B'Dino but being swept in a doubleheader to the host the following day.

Southern New Hampshire is hitting .202 (20-99) as a team with a .384 slugging percentage off of three doubles and five home runs while tallying 15 RBI and 12 walks. Sam Henrie led the offense in the season-opening series behind a .365 batting average and four hits, while Dylan Faircloth and Joshua Zbierski both hit two home runs with Faircloth recording five RBI.

On the mound, the Penmen hold a team ERA of 5.54 with 30 strikeouts and 13 walks in 26.0 innings. Endy Morales logs a team-leading 6.0 ERA, with Wesley Tobin tossing a team-high 10 strikeout in 5.2 innings and Hayden Manning earning the Penmen's lone victory.

About the Chargers
Receiving votes in the NCBWA poll, New Haven enters the new season after a program-record 39 victories and NCAA Division II East Region Championship berth.

New Haven hit .263 (425-1617) as a team last year with a .362 slugging percentage off of 84 doubles, seven triples and 21 home runs while tallying 242 RBI and 214 walks. Matt Chamberlain returns after leading the team with a .473 on base percentage with 52 walks while recording a .270 batting average, the highest amongst the returns, off 44 hits with nine doubles while Andrew Garcia tallied 31 RBI.

On the mound, the Chargers held a team ERA of 2.47 with 370 strikeouts and 151 walks in 449.0 innings. Preseason First Team All-Region honoree Brandon LaManna sported a 0.79 ERA in 34.0 innings over 25 appearances last season, compiling a 2-0 record with five saves en route to Honorable Mention All-America distinction from the NCBWA and D2CCA.
