Concordia Baseball Edged in CACC Showdown at Felician, 6-5

LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Concordia Clippers baseball team battled Felician University on Saturday evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on the road. Concordia was edged in game one of a scheduled doubleheader, 6-5 by the Golden Falcons, as game two was postponed due to rain storms in the area.

Felician scored lone runs in each of the first three innings to lead 3-0 early on. The Clippers would answer back in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs as a RBI triple for senior Joseph Davide (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and a RBI groundout from sophomore Joseph Impeduglia (Staten Island, N.Y.) would cut the deficit to a run, 3-2.

Concordia added two more runs to their total in the top of the sixth as the Clipper took a 4-3 lead after junior Tyler Epple (Levittown, N.Y.) hit a single up the middle to bring in runners from second and third base. Felician responded in the home half of the sixth with a pair of runs of their own as the home team re-gained the lead, 5-4.

The Golden Falcons scored their sixth and final run of the game in the bottom of the eighth as Concordia would trail 6-4 going into their final at-bats. The Clippers would score on a two-out RBI single from freshman Jake Partridge (Bardonia, N.Y.) to now trail 6-5. Concordia was unable to complete the comeback as Felician held on for the one-run victory.

Junior John Wall (Levittown, N.Y.) pitched 6.0 innings for the Clippers in the loss as he allowed four earned runs on 12 hits while striking out two batters. Sophomore Patrick Rivera (Elmont, N.Y.) pitched the final 2.0 innings for Concordia as he allowed one earned run on one hit.
