POMONA, N.Y. – The Concordia College baseball team visited Nyack College on Wednesday evening for an important Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division doubleheader. The Clippers were able to come away with 12-6 and 7-1 wins at Palisades Credit Union Park in the first half of a home-and-home series against the Warriors.

Concordia began game one with two runs in the top of the first as senior Joseph Davide (West Hempstead, N.Y.) recorded a RBI double and junior Tyler Epple (Levittown, N.Y.) recorded a sacrifice RBI as the Clippers led 2-0. The top of the second inning saw Concordia add on six more runs to lead 8-0 as freshman Jake Partridge (Bardonia, N.Y.) recorded a two-RBI triple and later scored off an error while sophomore Joseph Impeduglia (Staten Island, N.Y.) hit a three-run home run, his third home run this season.

Nyack would begin to cut into their deficit with a pair of runs in both the third and fourth innings while adding a lone run in the fifth to trail 8-5. The Clippers would gain some breathing room back with four runs in the sixth as freshman Hermes Abreu (Bayshore, N.Y.) and Impeduglia both recorded RBIs while junior Andre Jackson (Massapequa, N.Y.) added two more RBIs for Concordia. The Warriors were only able to score one more run in the home half of the sixth as the final three innings went scoreless to allow the Clippers to take game one, 12-6.

Junior Raymond Rosado (Brooklyn, N.Y.) pitched 4.2 innings for Concordia in the no-decision as he allowed five earned runs on nine hits. Sophomore Jacob Bannon (Glendale, N.Y.) pitched the final 4.1 innings for his second win of the season as he allowed one earned run on six hits while striking out a batter.

The second game saw neither team able to get on the scoreboard for the first three innings of play as the Clippers rallied off five runs in the top of the fourth to begin the scoring. Impeduglia, Abreu, and sophomore Nick Vlahakis (Oceanside, N.Y.) all recorded RBIs while Jackson drove in two runs as Concordia led 5-0.

In the top of the fifth, Impeduglia added his sixth RBI of the day with a double as Nyack scored their only run of the game in the home half of the sixth. The Clippers' final run came during their last at-bats in the seventh as Impeduglia's sacrifice fly allowed junior John Calabrese (Lodi, N.J.) to score from third base.

Sophomore Michael Romano (Yonkers, N.Y.) pitched the complete game for Concordia in the win as he allowed one earned runs on six hits while striking out four batters in 7.0 innings of work.
