Clippers Baseball Falls to Rollins to Conclude Florida Trip

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Concordia Clippers baseball team concluded their Florida trip on Saturday afternoon at Rollins College as Concordia would fall to the Tars at the Alfond Stadium, 16-3.

Rollins would hold the Clippers to zero runs in the first six innings of the game as the Tars led 16-0 going into the top of the seventh. Concordia broke their scoreless drought with three runs in the seventh as all of the runs came with two outs in the inning. Freshman Blake Burgan (Holbrook, N.Y.), senior Joseph Davide (West Hempstead, N.Y.), and sophomore Joseph Impeduglia (Staten Island, N.Y.) all recorded an RBI each to cut the deficit to 16-3.

The Clippers were unable to score any more runs as Rollins held on for the 16-3 victory. Senior Dylan Lawrence (Queens, N.Y.) was tagged with the loss for Concordia as he allowed six earned runs on eight hits while striking out two batters in 3.0 innings of work. The bullpen for the Clippers combined to pitch the final 5.0 innings allowing four earned runs on 13 hits while striking out six batters.

Concordia (4-8) will return to New York to face Mercy College on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch for the non-conference game in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. is set for 3 p.m.
