Baseball Falls to Assumption, 7-1, in Florida

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Concordia Clippers baseball team took on Assumption College at the Alfond Stadium on the campus of Rollins College on Monday morning. The Greyhounds would secure the 7-1 victory over Concordia to snap a two game winning streak.

Assumption scored lone runs in the second and third innings before scoring three runs in the top of the fifth to lead 5-0 over the Clippers. Concordia managed only three hits over the first six innings before getting on the scoreboard in the home half of the seventh. A two out RBI double for sophomore Denny DeLos Santos (Queens, N.Y.) allowed senior Joseph Davide (West Hempstead, N.Y.) to score from first base. The Greyhounds would score two more runs in the ninth as Assumption took the 7-1 win.

Junior John Wall (Levittown, N.Y.) was tagged with the loss for the Clippers after allowing three earned runs in 6.0 innings while striking out a season-high seven batters. Sophomores Patrick Rivera (Elmont, N.Y.) and Michael Romano (Yonkers, N.Y.) completed the final 3.0 innings with a combined two strikeouts and two earned runs.

Concordia (3-3) will next play in two games tomorrow back at Alfond Stadium as the Clippers will take on Bentley and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Nyack. The game against the Falcons is set for 3:30 p.m. while the game against the Warriors will begin at 6:30 p.m.
