Concordia Baseball Scores 20 Runs in Two-Run Victory Over Bridgeport to Wrap Up Myrtle Beach Trip

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Concordia College baseball team scored 20 runs on Sunday against the University of Bridgeport, eclipsing the 20-run plateau for the first time since the Clippers scored 22 runs in April of 2013 after their 20-18 victory against the Purple Knights.

Concordia scored at least one run in every inning except for the bottom of the second as the Clippers trailed 15-6 going into the bottom of the fifth. Junior Andre Jackson (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded two of his team-high five RBI's in the inning off a two-run home run. Junior Tyler Epple (Levittown, N.Y.) would hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning as Concordia tied the score at 16-16 going into the seventh.

Sophomore Joseph Impeduglia (Staten Island, N.Y.) led off the home half of the seventh with a solo home run to give the Clippers a one run lead as Jackson would score later in the inning off a wild pitch. A lone run in the top of the eighth for Bridgeport was answered with a pair of runs for Concordia in their next at-bats as the Clippers led 20-17. Senior Dylan Lawrence (Queens, N.Y.) pitched the ninth inning for his first save of the season, as he would only allow a run as Concordia secured the 20-18 victory.

Freshman Daniel Borysowski (Melville, N.Y.) picked up his first collegiate victory for the Clippers after pitching the final two-thirds of the fifth inning and the sixth and seventh innings as he allowed one run on one hit while striking out two batters. Eight of the 10 field players who saw an at-bat for Concordia would record an RBI during the game.

The Clippers (2-2) will next visit Winter Park, Fla. for eight games during the college's spring break beginning on Sunday, March 4th. Concordia will take on Assumption College for a 5 p.m. non-conference game.
