Baseball Defeated by CACC Rival Nyack in Non-Conference Game, 8-3

WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Concordia College baseball team battled Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Nyack College in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon. The Clippers were defeated by the Warriors, 8-3, at the Alfond Stadium on the campus of Rollins College.

Nyack scored the game's first run in the top of the second inning on a sacrifice fly. Concordia would tie the score at 1-1 in the home half of the second as sophomore Jaylin Martinez (Paramus, N.J.) hit a single through the left side of the infield to score freshman Eric Roubal (Patchogue, N.Y.).

The Warriors added a lone run in the third before adding five runs in the fourth to open up a 7-1 advantage over the Clippers. Nyack's final run of the game would occur in the sixth on a two-out RBI single to left field as Concordia trailed 8-1.

The Clippers attempted a late rally in the ninth with the bases loaded and two outs. Redshirt-freshman Dylan MacDonald (Hicksville, N.Y.) would knock in two runs off his single up the middle as sophomore Tyler Epple (Levittown, N.Y.) and junior Joseph Davide (West Hempstead, N.Y.) crossed home plate. Concordia was unable to add any more runs as the Warriors held on for the 8-3 victory.

Sophomore John Wall (Levittown, N.Y.) was tagged with the loss for the Clippers as he pitched 3.2 innings and allowed six earned runs on nine hits while striking out a pair of batters. The bullpen combined for 5.1 innings of work and allowed one earned run and four hits while striking out one batter.
