Concordia Baseball Earns 4-1 Win Over Nyack

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College baseball team earned an important Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win on Thursday afternoon. The Clippers secured a 4-1 victory against Nyack College in a lone game at Clipper Baseball Field as Concordia earned their ninth conference win of the season.

Senior Erik Poldroo (New York, N.Y.) got the offense started for the Clippers as he recorded a two-run home run to left center field in the bottom of the first to give Concordia the 2-0 lead. The defense would hold the Warriors to no runs over the first four innings until Nyack was able to grab a lone run in the fifth inning.

The Clippers would add two runs in the home half of the eighth inning to hold the 4-1 advantage as Poldroo scored on an error and senior Mike Manganiello (Levittown, N.Y.) recorded a RBI in the inning. The Warriors could not score any more runs in their final at-bats as Concordia took the 4-1 win.

Senior Ian Cole (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) earned the victory for the Clippers after he allowed one run on five hits while striking out four batters in 6.0 innings of work. Freshman Dylan Lawrence (Queens, N.Y.) picked up his first collegiate save after closing the final 3.0 innings allowing one hit and striking out three batters.

Concordia (16-13, 9-6 CACC) will next host Wilmington (Del.) on Friday afternoon for a pair of CACC games.
