Clippers Win Non-Conference Game over Dowling, 8-3, on Senior Day

Bronxville, NY – The Concordia College Clippers baseball team took on Dowling College on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference game at Clipper Baseball Field. The Clippers played in their final regular season home game of the 2012 season capturing a victory over the Golden Lions, 8-3, on Senior Appreciation Day.

Prior to the beginning of the game, Concordia honored their seven seniors who would be playing for the final time in a Clipper uniform. Anthony Barone (New Rochelle, NY), Jason Berrios (Brooklyn, NY), Christopher Motta (Bronx, NY), David Perlleshi (Eastchester, NY), Ted Robertson (Mount Vernon, NY), Yonatan Rodriguez (Tarrytown, NY) and Chris Rutigliano (Wantagh, NY) all were recognized for their hard work and dedication during their baseball career at Concordia.

The Clippers got on the scoreboard with two runs in the first inning as Erik Poldroo (New York, NY) and Mike Manganiello (Levittown, NY) both recorded RBI singles. Rodriguez added one more run for Concordia in the second with a base hit to drive in Perlleshi on the play.

Dowling got on the scoreboard in the top half of the fourth with a solo home run to begin the inning. The Clippers responded in the home half with three RBI's to take a 6-1 lead. The Golden Lions looked to claw back into contention following a two-run home run. Concordia did not back down as they added two more runs to their total to take a 8-3 victory, their 12th of the season.

Robertson pitched 4.0 innings for the Clippers allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out a pair in the no-decision. Barone picked up the win in his 2.0 innings of work while Motta and Christopher Rodriguez (Queens, NY) closed out the final 3.0 innings.

Concordia (12-30, 9-10 CACC) will play in their final regular season game this week. The Clippers will take on Felician College to conclude their CACC regular season schedule. The date and time has yet to be confirmed but will be decided upon in the near future.
