Concordia Sweeps Post in CACC Doubleheader, 4-1 and 5-2

Bronxville, NY – The Concordia College Clippers baseball team battled the Post University Eagles in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Clippers fought hard to come away with the sweep, 4-1 in game one and 5-2 in game two, as the Eagles suffered their 23rd and 24th losses of the season.

Concordia jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game one as Erik Poldroo (New York, NY) hit an RBI double to center field which scored Jason Berrios (Brooklyn, NY) on the play. The Clippers added two more runs in the second to increase their lead. Cristian Fiorito (Yonkers, NY) scored on an error and Raul Gonzalez (Brooklyn, NY) crossed home plate off an RBI single by Yonatan Rodriguez (Tarrytown, NY).

Post scored their lone run in the top of the third off a sacrifice fly to right field. Concordia added one more run in the eighth off Luis Gonzalez's (Carmel, NY) sacrifice fly to right field to secure the 4-1 victory.

Felix Lopez (Brooklyn, NY) picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on eight hits while striking out three batters in 7.0 innings of work. Ted Robertson (Mount Vernon, NY) came in to close out the final 2.0 innings to record his second save of the season.

The Clippers would grab an early lead in game two with Luis Gonzalez providing a sacrifice groundout to bring in Berrios from third base. The Eagles would take the lead in the top of the fourth with a two-run home run.

Concordia tied the game at 2-2 following a sacrifice fly by Berrios which scored David Perlleshi (Eastchester, NY) from third. Joe Gallub (Oceanside, NY) drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth for the Clippers as Fiorito advanced from third base on the RBI single. Concordia added two insurance runs in the eighth to earn the sweep over the Eagles.

Anthony Pisano (Clarkstown, NY) pitched the complete game for the Clippers allowing only two runs on four hits while striking out a season-high 10 batters for his fifth win of the season.  

Concordia (10-28, 8-8 CACC) will be on the road this Saturday for another CACC doubleheader. The Clippers will play at Felician College for two night games which are scheduled to begin at 5pm in Rutherford, NJ.
