Concordia Falls to Queens College, 13-7

Flushing, NY – The Concordia College baseball team traveled to face former East Coast Conference (ECC) foe Queens College on Wednesday afternoon. Following an early 5-2 lead by the Clippers, the Knights responded with a six run 5th inning to propel them to a 13-7 victory.

Concordia scored five runs in the 2nd inning thanks, in part, to Mike Manganiello's (Levittown, NY) two RBI's when he came up to bat with the bases loaded. A costly error by Queens in the inning allowed two more runs to cross the plate and Jason Berrios (Brooklyn, NY) drove in their fifth run as the Clippers took a 5-1 lead.

The Knights recorded at least a run in each of the first six innings and took the lead for good after a six run fifth inning. Four hits and three walks allowed Queens to bat through their lineup as they took an 11-5 lead.

Concordia would add two more runs in the closing innings but it was not enough to cut into the deficit as the Knights captured their fourth victory of the season, 13-7.

Christopher Rodriguez (Queens, NY) pitched 1.2 innings for the Concordia as he allowed five earned runs and four hits while striking out two batters in the loss. David Perlleshi (Eastchester, NY) led the offense with a team-high three hits as the Clippers recorded four doubles in the game.

Concordia (1-13, 0-0 CACC) will look to rebound from their loss in the second game of the home-and-home series against the Knights on Thursday afternoon. The teams will take to the field at 3pm on the campus of Concordia College.
