Clippers Drop Second Game to SNHU, 8-3

Myrtle Beach, SC – The Concordia College baseball team was back on the field Friday afternoon to take on Southern New Hampshire University. In the second of two games against the Penmen in Myrtle Beach, the Clippers fell 8-3 following a strong 8th inning by SNHU.

Southern NH got on the scoreboard early in the game as they scored three runs in the top half of the first inning. Concordia would be held scoreless through the first five innings as they also remained hitless.

In the bottom half of the sixth, the Clippers' bats would wake up as they recorded four hits and managed to score twice to only trail 3-2. The Penmen led off the seventh inning with a solo home run to take a two run lead. Concordia got the run back in the bottom of the seventh after Jason Berrios (Brooklyn, NY) scored from third base.

In the top of the eighth, SNHU loaded the bases with no outs and collected a three RBI double to take a 7-3 lead. The Penmen would add one more run in the inning as the deficit was too much for the Clippers to overcome.

Anthony Pisano (Clarkstown, NY) pitched 6.2 innings in the start allowing four earned runs and seven hits while striking out four batters in the loss. Berrios stole two and was walked three times.

The Clippers (0-2, 0-0 CACC) will be back in action tomorrow to face C.W. Post. First pitch is scheduled for 4pm in Myrtle Beach, SC.
