Concordia’s Piludu and Mecchi Earn ITA Regional Awards

Skillman, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its annual NCAA Division II ITA Regional Awards. Senior Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) was named the ITA East Region Men's Senior Player of the Year while freshman Costanza Mecchi (Rome, Italy) was named the ITA East Region Female Rookie Player of the Year.

Piludu is currently 13-3 in singles play this season and 16-4 in doubles to guide the fourth-ranked men’s program. Daniele earned his third straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year recognition while being named to the CACC All-Tournament Team. 

Mecchi is currently 17-2 in singles play this season and 16-4 in doubles to guide the thirty-fifth-ranked women’s program. Costanza was named the CACC Player and Rookie of the Year this past fall as well as being named the CACC Tournament MVP.

Both Piludu and Mecchi will lead their respective teams in the NCAA Round of 16 matches next week. The men will take on Cameron on Wednesday, May 14th while the women will battle Southwest Baptist on the same day.
